What Others Say About Linda’s Writing and Writing Workshops

What Others Say…

Dear Linda,
Thank you so much for doing the “Soul Tracks” class here at BCRC. The participants had rave reviews about it and said it really helped them get their feelings out and learn how to practice reflective writing at home. I hope that you can come back to work with us again. You have a calm and soothing presence, something that these women need!
Sincerely,
Lia, Program Coordinator

I’ve enjoyed your sessions tremendously and thank you for the planning, thoughtfulness and creativity you’ve put into them. I am in the middle of a MFA creative writing program, and have been frozen in a writers block that has left me without words for quite a while. Your workshops have helped me get going again, and I will be forever grateful.

I feel blessed to be part of your circle. So safe and loving and talented. It’s home. I am writing better and more than I have in a long time thanks to this group and you. I love the way that you run things and the inspiring poems that you pick….Thank you for what you are doing and how you are changing so many lives.

I just had to write you to say that I so appreciate the workshop you did at the NAPT conference about making the little book. You gave such a wonderful introduction to such a great book project! I came home with great enthusiasm to share it. And then I did so…..

The results were AMAZING. One woman even made and wrote a little book for me after she had gotten back home….I loved sharing the way of making a book so simply that one could toss out the finished project, knowing that it didn’t take a lot of time or money to create it. I don’t think I want to throw any of my little books away, though!

I have used it myself, too, for processing some health issues lately. How wonderful a little container it is. And so informal. It feels good to hold in my hand later, too.

Thank you for this wonderful gift. I believe it will be magical in many ways for me…in my own writing. You are a wonderful teacher and so gracious in your generous sharing of resources and information….You are a mighty wind in the mixture of poetry and art-writing.

I really wanted to thank you not only for the joy of making the tiny journals, but for all that I learned listening to you teach. Even when you are not speaking in poetry quotes, your own words are so clear and clean that they ring of poetry. Lines like “You can never make the same mark twice” and “The mark depends on what you are marking with and the material you are marking” are very profound statements and a huge metaphor a major truth of living….I plan to continue with what you showed us, it was fun of course, but it was such a strong tool for closure and completeness….

You are a fabulous listener, and teacher. I am so grateful that I had two days in with your light. The white and silence speak too. You’ve moved me deeply.

This workshop…has provided instruction of superior quality and expertise; provided an atmosphere for both creative expression and for the building of meaningful relationships. I have benefited by getting in touch with my personal creativity, being able to develop that gift; and enabling me to transcend above the daily pressures of illness/health….This workshop has created an atmosphere of love…and added to the sense of peace, harmony, and caring which is so beneficial to the human spirit….It has enabled me to reach into my life for greater understanding, to recall the past in a way which is creative, and to achieve a sense of composure, serenity, and peace with the past and my life. The methods used in the class are basically simple and have been good tools which I shall be able to recall and use throughout my life. These techniques have enabled me to get in touch with my creative soul. The atmosphere of the workshop is one of its great strengths; it is a safe, healthy, wholesome, spiritual, supportive time which enriches my soul and bathes it in love.

There were issues, developments, highs and lows in my life that I have never thought of discussing with anyone. Low and behold Linda’s teaching of quietness, thoughtfulness and thinking it through brought it all out, far reaches and innermost thoughts of my soul….I find it warm, lots of fun, knowledgeable about others’ life, a sharing of exploits, different cultures, and feelings, willingness to share.

These lessons were good for me to put me in a calm state; and to learn the various methods….Gave me insight into my past life and how important it is to put some of your experience in writing to be handed down to the next generation who may be surprised at the way Great Great Grandma lived!

I have been extremely amazed at the insights into human nature and life, itself, Linda has shared with me…Linda holds what I feel is the most important trait for teachers to possess: the ability to serve as a guide.
—KS, poet

She was never stifling in her criticism but positive and encouraging like a wise master of the craft.
—Nick Carbo, poet

Linda’s precise and vivid details triggered long-forgotten memories. The power to evoke such images is the gift of a true writer.
